Winter visitors returning to the Red Mountain Ranch area will find some changes The newest development at Red Mountain Ranch has been under constuction. The Red Mountain campus of
Mesa Community College and a new Target store open this fall in the Mckellips/Power Road area. And, although more subtle, there are curious changes at the local post office.
The Rock at Red Mountain Ranch
The newest residential development at Red Mountain Ranch, "The Rock at Red Mountain Ranch" has been slowly taking form. The Rock is a gated 22 unit TownHome development adjacent to Red Mountain Ranch Country Club. The units started at a base price of $175,000 not including any lot premiums, upgrades or options. Six floor plans range from 1188-2327 sq. ft. with larger units listing for $239,500. Lot premiums are as high as $8500. Units are both single and multi-story. A private pool and spa is planned. Red Mountain Campus - Mesa Community College
The new Red Mountain Campus of Mesa Community College opened for fall semester classes on
August 18,2001.The campus, which has been operating in temporary facilities at the Multigenerational Center, includes three new buildings, Desert Willow, Mesquite and Palo Verde
.Palo Verde is the main classroom building.
A Cyber Cafe is located in the Desert Willow building where there is a restaurant, coffeed house, espresso bar and juice bar open to visitors.Along with
the remodeled Acacia Village facility which originally housed Rio Salada College before it became the Red Mountain campus site, the campus consists of 90,000 square feet on the 100 acre site. MAP 2000 students have been attending courses on the campus. That number is expected to
grow to 4000-5000 students with the opening of Phase 1 of the planned campus. Projections show population growth of 35.4% between 2000 and 2010. Further growth of 11.6% is
expected in the following ten years as the population in the area levels off.

Falcon Field Station which serves Mesa, Arizona zip code 85215, including Red Mountain Ranch. On about September 5th, a sign
appeared inside the postal facilty. It announced that the new cutoff for Express Mail would be 1:00 PM. By Friday, the 7th, a new Federal Express drop box appeared just outside the front
door as you can see in the picture. For those post office patrons missing the new 1:00 PM deadline for Express Mail, the Federal Express dropbox is picked up at 3:30 PM.
In June, the U.S. Postal Commission and Federal Express announced plans to launch the national
rollout of FedEx Express dropboxes at post offices throughout the country - implementing the first of two landmark public-private service agreements between FedEx and the U.S. Postal Service
New Target store to open in October
Final touches seem to be in process for the October opening of Target store
just south of the new
Red Mountain Campus of Mesa Community College and at the northeast corner of Power Road and McKellips Road. Work continues to widen Power Road in the area. Traffic has been
